Ahh fall.... A time for colorful leaves, flannels, cozy blankets, and all things pumpkin spice.
Whenever fall rolls around I find myself wanting to decorate our home with warm rustic touches while creating cozy spaces for my friends and family to gather. I think that I achieved just that rustic cozy look here in our dining room. Today I'm going to be sharing a simple fall tablescape that I created for a fun blog tour hosted by Nick + Alicia . You can find lots of other fall tablescapes at the end of this post. So be sure to check that out.
I think tablescapes are one of the funnest things to create for different seasons, holidays or special occasions. Spending just a little extra time creating a pretty table can turn any everyday meal into something a little bit more intimate and special.
We're pretty laid back and practical around here and so I kept my tablescape fairly simple while focusing mainly on creating an inviting space with fall touches.
I never really have much of a plan when I create tablescapes, I just start with the basics and then go from there.
So the first thing I started with for this tablescape was the tablecloth. I painted my table a few years back and it has seen a lot of wear and tear since. My table really could use a fresh new paint job but until I get around to that, I figured it would be best if I just hid it all under a pretty tablecloth. #keepingitreal
So I went to my favorite store, The Goodwill, and found this cute fall print tablecloth. I was actually hoping to find something in bright fall colors or in a rustic plaid, but that's what's so fun about shopping at thrift stores, you just never know what you are going to find. And even though this tablescloth was not at all what I had envisioned, I knew that it would work our perfectly.
The day I bought the tablecloth, I also bought the white ceramic mugs with black rim that you can see on my table as well.
The next step was to put together my place settings. I used the copper chargers that I made a few years ago out of dollar store pizza pans and copper spray paint. I layered the chargers with white plates, my pretty cloth napkins from Serena and Lily and a simple wood napkin ring.
For my centerpiece, I placed a plant on the table. Now I know that sounds a bit lazy but listen up. I placed the plant there temporarily, thinking that I'd switch it out for some pretty fall flowers. But when I was done with my table, I decided that the plant was just fine to use as a centerpiece. Plus I like the extra touch of green because it ties in the green glass pumpkin on the table.
Next, I added food and wine! The most important objects on any table. LOL
I think I'm going to make a snack board for all of my tablescapes from here on out. Not only was is super fun to put together, but it also adds so much color and texture to my tablescape. Plus who doesn't appreciate a little snack before dinner?
All I did was set out a large cutting board and then filled in up with fruit, cheese, meat, pita chips and dip. Jake was even snacking on it while I was taking my pictures because it looked so inviting.
And lastly, I scattered little white votive candles and small ceramic pumpkins throughout the table.
I always think candlelight adds a special touch, and these little pumpkins are basically the only fall decorations I own so I use them again and again every year.
On the far back wall I have an old restaurant butcher block table. It had a lot of extra stuff on it before and it was looking a little too busy, so I cleared it off and just kept some simple white dishes for a cleaner look.
And the last touch was to add a cozy blanket and throw pillows for comfy seating.
And that completes my simple fall tablescape.
What do you think of it?
I hope that I have inspired you in some way or another to create a festive tablescape to help celebrate the season. And if not, then I'm betting you will be sure to find something that grabs your attention from these other amazing bloggers.
