Every year I like to come up with a new look for our Christmas tree. I do so by mixing up the ornaments that I already own, along with creating some new ones. This year, I thought it would be fun to create some macrame-inspired ornaments.

Also, this is an exciting day, because I'm joining 11 other bloggers for a really fun DIY Christmas Ornament blog hop! A big thanks to Krista, from The Happy Housie for putting it all together for us.
You can find the links to all of the other fabulous ornaments at the end of this blog post.

I think my Macrame ornaments turned out so adorable and they were really simple to make.

Here's how I made them:

First, I started off with some inexpensive metal bracelets. I used bracelets because that's what I had on hand.  Any type of large ring or hoop will work just fine.
(You can find some similar bracelets, HERE

Next, I got some pretty, chunky, tweed yarn and cut strands to be about 16 inches long.

I looped the yarn onto the bracelet.

First, I folded the strand of yarn in half, laid the middle loop onto the bracelet like this:

Then I tucked the two ends behind the bracelet and through the center like this:

I then pulled the two ends to make a knot that looked like this:

I added six strands of yarn to each of my ornaments.  After the strands were added, I trimmed the ends to create a layered look like this:

And the very last step is to add a knot to the end of the yarn to keep it from fraying.

Super cute, right?

For now, I just got out a small tree so that I could share these ornaments with you.  I will be pulling out my big tree and decorate that sometime next week.

And obviously, these macrame ornaments could be made in any color or length you wish.
So grab some yarn and some friends and have fun making them!

Thanks for stopping by.
Be sure to follow along on the hop to see all of the other bloggers creative ornament ideas.
