Why I use Mobil Presets and which ones are my favorite.

I started using Mobil Presets at the end of last year and I have been using them on all of my photos ever since. I love presents. In fact, I would say that it's a hobby of mine to add presets to my pictures. I seriously find it to be so much fun and I am always amazed and how different my pictures look after using them.

Have you used a Mobil Preset before? Are you a fan of them or not so much? Or are you wondering what the heck is she talking about, what is a Mobil Preset?
So basically, if you don't already know, a Mobil Preset is a filter that you add to your pictures on your mobile phone using the free Adobe Lightroom app. There is also a desktop version of Adobe Lightroom but the desktop version is not free.
You can then purchase presets for usually not a lot of money, upload them to the Lightroom app on your phone, and then apply the preset to any of your pictures.

It's kinda a little hard for me to explain, but I promise you that it's fairly easy to do and every time I have ever purchased a Preset before it has always come with easy to follow instructions and a lot of times a video to go along that'll show you a step by step tutorial.

Anyway, I'm not trying to sell anyone on buying presets, I'm simply just blogging about them today because I love using them and I thought that if any of you are also into presets or interested in getting to learn more about Mobil presets then you may like what I have to say today.

Really quick, I first want to say why I use presets. The main reason is that I like to edit my photos anyway and presets make it really easy to do so. Also, I think that it looks really nice if you keep your pictures consistent, especially if you have a blog and/or are on social media. Using the same presets will give all of your pictures a cohesive look. This is mostly noticed on Instagram since all of your pictures are on a grid. I just think accounts look best if there's a nice overall look.

So with that said, I thought I'd share four different pictures and show how they look after using a few different presents that I have purchased.
So here is the BEFORE images:

I purposely picked these four images for a reason. These four images will give you a good look at what to expect from a variety of different settings.
The first image is of low lighting in our living room. The second is a selfie that I took with my iphone, the third picture is of a mostly white interior, and the fourth picture is of the exterior of our home.

The first Mobil Preset I ever tried was THIS Bright and Airy Indoor Mobil Preset from Alexa Jean.  I bought it from her black friday sale on a total whim and freaked out because I had never used a preset in my life and had no idea even how to. But after I figured it all out, I was hooked!  Now this package comes with five different presets, So I just picked the first one, which is my favorite to share.
Here is the before and after with the Alexa Jean Bright and Airy Preset:

I really like the overall look that these presents add to my photos. I think it makes them look pretty and muted.  However I do not like how these presents look on pictures of myself. because I'm a red head with pink toned skin I find it to be hard to find presets that don't look too strange on me. I've seen several blonds use this present and it looks amazing on them. the second thing I have to watch out for with this preset are my greens, see how the grass looks in the last photo? Perhaps too teal.

Presets don't always work for every photo, I also play around with the other settings, like exposure, temperature, and clarity to get my final look.

Moving on. I liked that first preset so much that I decided to buy another package from Alexa Jean. It was a bundle pack that included her Alexa Jean Photo Presents, and her Wonderlust Presents.
There are 11 different presents to choose from in this bundle pack, but the one I find myself using the most is one called, Denim Blues, so these next images are using that exact preset.

Now these are pretty similar to the present I shared above, however you'll notice that they do look a little more softer. They give an overall pretty look to your pictures, make your whites pop, but again that green grass isn't very natural looking.

So that's when I went out looking for a new preset that would make my colors pop a little bit more and that's when I found THESE Pretty Pastel from Willow Collective. a set of 4 presets for$3.60

To be completely honest, I was a bit disappointed with these presets at first. These presents are a little duller on my neutrals and I prefer a brighter look on my whites. But I have to say, these are my favorite presents to use on pictures of myself because I feel like they keep my coloring more natural than other presets. Also I have been noticing that a lot of instagramers that I follow are using a duller filter like this and it really looks pretty on their overall feeds.

Okay, Next up, I had to try out the Liz Marie Presets because her photos are so gorgeous. So I purchased the Bear Preset (1 preset not a set) and here's how it looks.

These presents make my pictures look so warm and cozy and have that signature 'Liz Marie' feel to them. I seriously love Liz Marie and everything she does. She actually just came out with a ton more presents that I would love to try out too.

Next up, I was feeling like I wanted my pictures to have more of a rosy glow to them, so I searched around Etsy and found THESE AIRY AND WARM presets from Addigitalworld for $4.32 Also I would like to mention that Etsy is The best place to go to find presents because they have Tons and for a great price too!! Plus people rate them and leave comments and sometimes even share how they look on their own pictures.
So this airy and warm package also came with four different presets, I liked the third one best.

These Presets have a warm look that's really pretty. I like how warm and rosy they make my pictures look. They are on the muted side and don't always work for every picture. Notice how grey my grass looks in that last picture?

Okay, I saved my very favorite preset for last! Even though all of the above presets are beautiful and they all have something different to lend to my pictures, I decided that for my blog and social media accounts I wanted my pictures to be some-what more realistic to how  it all looks in person.  This is especially important when I'm showing pictures of items that are for sale or sharing what  paint colors I have used in our home.  I don't ever want to be misleading. But at the same time, I do want my pictures to look lighter and brighter.  And these Presets from NESTING WITH GRACE by VictoriaBee do just that. This comes in a set of 3, original, warm, and cold. For $6.88

Again, I usually always play around on the other settings, and I find that on these ones I tend to turn the clarity and texture down a bit, especially on portraits.

So those are all of the different Presets that I have bought and tried out so far and like I said, Presets are a lot of fun to use and so I'm sure that I will purchase more in the future.

So do you have any questions, comments, or suggestions?
I'd love to hear them. I'd also love to know if you use presets and if you have any particular favorite ones that you use.

Thanks for stopping by,
:)
EMILY
