I pulled together a fun beach-inspired summer tablescape on our back patio that I'm excited to share with you today. I'm also joining a lovely group of bloggers that are all sharing summer themed tablescapes so be sure to take the tour at the end of this post. A big Thank You to Alicia at A Burst Of Beautiful for inviting me to join in on the fun.
I had actually put together this tablescape on Mother's day. My husband barbecued up some yummy ribs and my mother-in-law came over and we had a lovely day enjoying the back yard and nice weather.
I think it's fun to create a pretty table setting every once in a while since most of the time we keep things pretty casual around here. A pretty table setting can really make an occasion feel extra special.
I was also thinking that this would be a really fun look for a beach-themed wedding if anyone out there is looking for ideas. :)
This tablescape was inspired by the blue hydrangeas that my boys gifted me for Mother's day. I put the plant they gave me in a little metal bucked and then hung it on a hook next to the window.
I also remembered that I had these beautiful long stemmed faux hydrangeas that I received from Balsam Hill last spring. I put those stems in a large metal bucket which made for a very lovely centerpiece. Keeping with the hydrangea theme, I also brought in another hydrangea plant that I have in yet another metal bucket sitting on the ground next to the table. I really LOVE hydrangeas because they remind me of the coast where they seem to practically grow wild there. I just really hope I can keep these new plants of mine alive. I haven't had much luck with hydrangeas in the past, so fingers crossed.
I absolutely love the look of mix matched dinner plates so that's why my dished don't all match each other. It was totally intentional :) I tend to collect random plates while out yard selling or thrifting so I have lots of different patterns to play with.
I added some throw pillows to the bench for comfortable seating options. I recently blogged about that blue stripped pillow covers that was such a great deal, you can read more about it HERE.
The last step to my tablescape was to add seashells. Seashells bring an instant touch of beachy and so I always like to mix them into my decorating. I don't live anywhere near the beach, but that's okay, there's nothing wrong with pretending that I do ;)
Oh and one more thing, how stink'n cute is this whale salt and pepper shaker set? A good friend of mine gave it to me as a souvenir from her vacation. I love it so much!
And there you go, that's my Outdoor Beachy Summer Tablescape idea for ya.
What do you think of it?
