Personalized gifts can be a little hard to come up with sometimes because you want to give that special person a gift that is unique, thoughtful, and one of a kind to let them know you care.
So today I want to share with you this sweet little sign that I made using some personalized wooden letters.
This would be a wonderful gift to give for any occasion.
My Husband, Jake and I celebrated our 14 year wedding anniversary during the Summer. And as a gift Jake picked out some wooden letters to give to me because he knew I could create something special with them. That alone was the sweetest gift ever! E for Emily, J for Jake.
(The wooden letters can be found HERE)
I loved these letters and right away I knew that I wanted to decoupage them and create a sign to hang above our bed. So I went to Micheals to get some decorative scrapbook paper. All I did was walk down the scrapbook paper isle and grab ones that spoke to me. When I was at the end of the isle I looked down and couldn't believe how well all of the papers all went together. Cute, right?
So to cover my letters, I first had to trace them onto the back of the scrapbook paper. I made sure to trace the wrong side of the letter, like a mirror image.
When cutting out the letter, I cut just inside of the line. This is so a bit of the wood would still show in the end.
I used Mod Podge to adhere the paper to the wood letter and over the paper to seal it.
For the piece of wood I used for the sign, I just went to my wood pile and found a board that was the right size. At first I white washed the board, but then looking at my leftover scrapbook paper I decided that the sheet that had a gray wood grain design in it would be even better. So I cut the paper to fit the board and then Mod Podged it on.
I hot glued the letters onto the board and couldn't be more pleased with how it turned out.
And like I had planned, I've hung the sign above our bed.
I think it turned out so sweet and that is why I wanted to share this idea with you. Now you can create one too for someone special in your life.
Thank you for stopping by today.
Emily
