Happy First Day Of Summer!!!

Summer is officially here and to celebrate I have joined an amazing group of bloggers to share with you how we have all decorated our homes for the season. This Simply Summer Home Tour will be sure to provide you with lots of great summer decorating ideas for your own homes. At the end of this post you can find a list of all of the other bloggers participating, and you should know, these are all blogs that I follow and am inspired by daily, so I just know you will be too.
A big thank you to our lovely host, Nina Hendrick for putting it all together.

I've already shared a tour of our outdoor spaces and you can catch that HERE, but today I want to share with you the inside of our home.

So Welcome! Come on in!

Today, not only am I sharing a tour of our home with you, I am also revealing our new white walls!

I've recently repainted our living room, dinning room, hallway, and kitchen in white. The white I chose is called, "Subway Tile" by Valspar. The color is from an old collection that Lowes once carried so if you are interested in it, you will need to ask an associate to look it up since they no long carry a color chip for it.

I keep referring to this shade of white as a "Sunny White" because it has a hint of cream/yellow in it and it reminds me of how white walls look when the sun is shining in on them.

I kept the woodwork and trim the white I had originally on them (Olympic One/ untinted/ base A) because I wanted to have a little bit of contrast between the walls and the trim, although I have to admit, it's hardly noticeable,

Now if you are new around here, you will soon discover that I love to decorate with coastal decor. No, I don't live by the sea. I actually live in a small country town in Idaho, but I'd move to the coast in a heartbeat if ever I had the chance. My family's love for the sea is celebrated throughout our home.

The hallway off of the living room also got painted white.

A fun thing in our hallway are the collage framed pictures of our favorite vacation trips. This was my husband's idea that I just love.  It's really cool to walk down the hallway and be reminded of some of our most cherished memories. I hope to one day have both sides of the hallway filled with vacation collages.

Through the hallway is a staircase that leads you up to the attic. This is where the master suite is located. I had painted these walls years ago in the "subway tile" and I liked it so much, that I decided to paint the downstairs in it as well. The most talked about thing in this room are my "fake Planks" which I think everyone already knows, I drew them on with a pencil.  See how HERE.

Back downstairs, across from the living room is the dinning room. Not only did I recently paint the walls, I also painted the table and the chandelier.

You can see a before and after of my rustic beach house chandelier HERE.

A favorite feature in this room are the two corner hutches that are original to the home. I have fun mixing around my dishes in here.

Next to the dinning room is the kitchen. I love how the white paint flows from room to room. It really makes our home feel so much bigger now.

What a transformation, right?  If you didn't know already, the walls used to be painted in a dark teal. You can see the before HERE.

I recovered my bamboo stools with a blue and white stripe fabric, and I painted my wicker "food cover" light shades, white.

I'll be back soon to share a little bit more of the changes in here with you.

So what do you think of my new white walls? They may come across as "too white" in my pictures, but I have to say, living with the white walls really makes our home feel fresh, clean, and peaceful, which is so perfect for summer. But don't ask my boys, they prefer color.....the reason why their bedroom is painted in neon orange :)

Thanks for stopping by,

Emily

Enjoy the Tour!
